John Parker is an American fiction author and narrator, who reads and writes in many genres. He loves fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction and nonfiction, adventure, classics, and anything with a good mystery. And he loves them all on audiobook. So, these are the genres he is most interested in narrating. John narrates his own works and is now expanding to read for others.
John narrates fiction and nonfiction and is available for your project by direct contract or on ACX. Contact John via the contact page or visit the ACX audiobook publishing website to hear John’s many samples.
(Note: Since its acquisition by Spotify, Findaway Voices is no longer managing audiobook production).
John has enjoyed audiobooks daily since the days when they were only available on cassette. So, he appreciates and understands your need and desire to share your work through this medium. And he’s heard a lot of amazing narrators, who are his role models.
John has written, directed, and performed for local and community theater, including lead roles in musicals (baritenor). So, if your book requires a melody here and there (or even an atonal or “tunelessly” bit that doesn’t grate on the ears), John can meet that need. His natural speaking voice is warm and musical, but it can be gritty as well.
John lives in Colorado and has a very mildly accented standard English as his natural accent. He speaks French well enough to get by as a respectful tourist and has good pronunciation of French and generic French accented English. He has several other accents to draw upon for characterizations, but they are modeled after people he has known, not standard dialects. So he leaves those for auditions and samples instead of listing them.
John has been a scientist and engineer, so is competent with technical terms and language for your difficult scientific texts.
John sings to his horses.

Special Dedication to Germaine Marie (Roy) Parker
It is not uncommon for a mother to read to her children, but my mom and I read to each other regularly until I moved out of the folks’ house my sophomore year of college. While one was busy preparing dinner, setting the table, doing dishes or laundry, the other would read aloud for both to enjoy together. We read (and cried) through all the middle grade and young adult classics and many more works of fiction and a few nonfiction. My wife and I continued this tradition, reading to each other and with our children.
I was thankful when my mom attended my theatrical performances and plays I directed, but of all things, I was blessed to read some of my stories to her before she passed in the spring of 2023.
Reading to others has been and continues to be one of the great joys of my life. One of many gifts of love from my mom. And though she may not have enjoyed some of the stories I write and narrate (she read a daily devotional and loved mysteries, detective and historical fiction, but no speculative fiction), it is to Mom that I dedicate all my narrations.
